Beer and Burger at Fotheringhay.

Lovely pub walk from Elton to Fotheringhay

Beer and Burger at Fotheringhay.

Little bit of drizzle never stops us.

After yesterdays run round the park it was time to give the legs a little flex. The rain looked like it was coming all day but we remained mostly dry. We parked at Elton and made for the pub at Fotheringhay. Time was gettining on and there was a chance they would stop serving food at 2pm so we had to get a wiggle on.

The food was very expensive but good so you don't mind paying a bit extra. We sat in the garden with the umbrella up, we had it all to ourselves.

On the way back we did get a little wet but not enough to get through the coats. Get little walk.

The route

Parking up in Elton we headed out past the mill to open fields making a direct line to Fotheringhay. The field are at this time of year full or nearly ripe barley and wheat.

Once we left the pub we walked past the castle remains along the old trail to the lock. There is a diversion to the path past the lock as a large pond is being excavated, not sure what it is going to be.

Past the mill we walk near the main road, we can hear it but it is well hidden turning left at the quarry. You can see polly tunnels on the right and once out of the trees Elton Hall can be seen in the distance on the right. Its a nice walk through open fields back to Elton.

Video of the walk

We have two videos of this walk.

Alex was so kind to give me her not so old phone, I am so impressed with it so I tried it out on this walk. Alex also made a video which is far better than mine.
